Thilan on Tuesday #1

This little piggy went to market
This little piggy stayed at home
This little piggy had roast beef
This little piggy had none.
And this little piggy went... "Waaah! Waaaah! WAAAAHHHHH!" all night long.

With apologies to whoever first penned "this little piggy" back in 1728 for my minor amendment - Bloggers licence!

Niss on Someday #5

So, what should I post on tonight?

Oh yes. I is a Daddy!
Becoming a dad in these modern times is not like it was a few decades ago...no sirree no. You don't get to sit in a comfy waiting room with other imminent dads talking about last night's game of footy and chugging on a cohiba. No. The modern imminent dad has to be present at the actual birth. No ifs or buts you've got to be in there willing your partner to breathe...don't push...try not to break my fingers...breathe...still don't push...keep the noise down...breathe...and PUSH! PUSH! PUSH!...and behold your beautiful baby boy...a Thilan if ever I saw one. Please note that the bit before you get to beholding a beautiful baby can be quite long - by which I mean the time it would take you to read a book - War and Peace rather than The Gruffalo!

And to be honest I wouldn't have missed it - not even to watch Liverpool beat Manchester United from the Kop end! It would have been a huge mistake to miss seeing Thilan take his first breaths.

But that was one month ago and Thilan's changed a little every day. One thing that hasn't change from day 1 is his apparent distaste for sleeping whilst the big(ger) people might be eating dinner. Thilan is a soul with a sense of mischief that makes him need to be present whilst we eat, so that, even though he's likely to be desperately trying to stop his tiredness closing his eyes, he can watch one of us try to cut up a steak or some suchlike with only one free hand! I can't wait to see what he gets up to when he bores of that game!
